I posted this over on channelate.com, but I figured I would post it here too, since all future episodes will be posted here.
I meant to post more often this week, but I’ve been working hard on the voice overs and animatic, which have all the jokes in them. I want to save the good stuff for when I release the video, so I decided not to post those things that have to do with the script. I did, however, get Greg’s pet quail all rigged up and walking, so here he is. Also in the video is the background I made for Greg’s living room. Vee did all the design for the house. She drew me a floor plan with ideas of what furniture would go in what spot.
Manny should be fairly easy to animate. His eyes and torso were the hardest part to rig, since I wasn’t sure how to tackle the setup. But, other than that, his scootching takes very little time to do.
Thought I would put Greg’s character set up to the test with a couple walks.
I’ve been using After effects for just under two years for general compositing, but I’ve never done any real character animation with it. I did this animation test with Mr. Dee to see how the character set up worked. His body is animated by tweening parented pieces, while his wings are an actual hand drawn sequence. I like the mix of the two. Gives a little extra life to the puppet style animation.
