Mr. Dee: Sketches.

One of the new characters we came up with is Greg’s next door neighbor. We were calling him Mr. D (demon) temporarily, but have grown to like the name. So he is officially Mr. Dee. He’s a retired shoulder devil. I did only these three sketches of him before settling on the final design.

Since I’m doing the new animations in After Effects instead of XSI, I took the opportunity to give Greg’s design a little upgrade.  I like it much much better.

The first attempt.

These are the two original Greg is a Garden Gnome shorts. They were animated in XSI, which is a 3d program. I did the animation in a way similar to how they animate South Park. I modeled all the characters as flat puppets. The character set up was slow, but once they were done the animation was really fast. For this new incarnation, I’m doing all the animation in Adobe After Effects.
